Maritime House
( grade two listed ), Sunnyside, Sunderland - Working
with BDN consulting engineers and Red Box Architects we
successfully produced a solution to the difficult problem
of acoustic protection within the existing floors. The
design team were eager to find a solution without removing
the existing timber floors and by using a Lewis Dovetailed
Sheet composit steel and concrete screed floor deck Sunderland
Housing were able to leave the floors intact whilst at
the same time provide a fantastic solid concrete surface
ready to accept the finished floor coverings. |

Thorngate Mill
Conversion, Barnard Castle, Co Durham - The conversion
of this historic grade two building from its existing
derelict state to 16 luxury apartments proved to be both
a challenging but rewarding project for the MMP Group.
Projects such as this always have a number of critical
design issues to resolve ñ Thorngate Mill was no
exception. One major issue was how to bring the existing
timber floors up to standard and meet the current building
regulations for airborne & impact sound. ILA assisted
the selection of a Lewis Dovetailed Sheet and concrete
screed composite floor solution. Bringing together design
engineers from the manufacturers of Lewis sheet, Reppel
bv based in Holland and MMPís own engineers &
acoustic specialists resulted in the provision of a solid
concrete composite floor, meeting all acoustic requirements
and ready to accept the final floor coverings. ILA also
assisted in the procurement of special bespoke timber
windows from Heron Joinery Products, Draperstown, Northern
Ireland. |

Phase 1,BBC Broadcasting
House, Regent Street, London - Working in partnership
with our London based stockist of Lewis Dovetailed Sheet
we assisted CDM-UK to come up with a suitable acoustic
floor solution to a difficult problem in the construction
of new floors to the recording studio elements of the
project. The solution has worked so well that CDM-UK intend
to use the same solutions in phase 2 of this high profile
project. |
